Halee Harpenau

Halee Harpenau, originally from Birmingham, Alabama, has trained in dance for over twenty years. She has studied tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, pointe, pom, lyrical, and acrobatics, though tap remains her favorite. She trained competitively at multiple studios, including Achieve Academy of Dance in Evansville, Indiana, and Young World Dance Studios in Wichita, Kansas.

Halee was a two-year member of the Crimson and Gold Dance Team at Pittsburg State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality Management with a minor in Dance. She has performed at numerous competitions, including Tremaine, Adrenaline, Bravo, and Edge, and has furthered her tap education through national intensives such as Riff Dallas, Motor City Tap Festival, and Tap Into the Network.

She has studied under esteemed tap professionals, including Suzy Guarino-Hall, Kelsey Rose Young, Brendan Kellam, Charles Renato, and the late Gregg Russell. She had the honor of performing in a tap tribute film for Gregg Russell and dancing with Tap 24.7 in Phoenix, Arizona, and San Diego, California.

Halee has been teaching and choreographing for eight years, receiving awards for her competitive tap groups and soloists. She also taught tap classes within the Pittsburg State University dance program. At seventeen, she was scouted for a priority audition for So You Think You Can Dance but chose not to proceed due to COVID. Currently, she works in the Kansas City area and is eager to continue sharing her passion for tap dance at The Alignment Project.
