Alexis McGowen

Alexis McGowen, originally from Pittsburg, Kansas, has been dancing for 15 years and is currently pursuing a degree in Elementary Education with minors in Spanish and Dance at Pittsburg State University. She anticipates graduating in May 2026. Her dance training includes extensive experience with Y Academy of Dance, Frontenac High School Dance Team, and Pittsburg State University’s dance program. Over the years, she has earned recognition as a four time NDA/UDA All-American Nominee and a three-time All-American Dancer.

Lexi has trained in a wide variety of dance styles but specializes in teaching jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop. She performed for many years with Y Academy of Dance. She has been teaching dance for three years, though she gained experience assisting classes before formally stepping into an instructor role. Currently, she is the dance team coach at Frontenac High School and has worked with students ranging in age from three to eighteen, though she particularly enjoys working with elementary-aged dancers.

As a choreographer, Lexi has created numerous pieces, with some of her favorites including "Ice Ice Baby," "Flashlight" (Maylin’s solo), and "Great Balls of Fire" (Fay’s solo). Her choreography has received accolades, with "Ice Ice Baby" winning first place at regionals and second at nationals. She was also involved in coaching the Frontenac High School Dance Team, which placed fifth at the KSHSAA Game Day Spirit Competition.

Beyond dance, Lexi enjoys reading, bullet journaling, and spending time with friends and family. She is passionate about sharing her love of dance with students and helping them grow both technically and artistically.
